The Board reviewed the Academy's significant achievements over the past year, underscoring its core role in enhancing the Arabic language, in accordance with the policies and objectives established in previous BOT meetings.
A key highlight of the meeting was the completion of the *Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language*, an ambitious and monumental project encompassing 127 volumes. This achievement was the result of collaboration among 13 academies and over 700 experts, including researchers, editors, proofreaders, printers, and other technical staff, all working together to preserve the linguistic legacy of Arabic.
The meeting also focused on the Academy’s involvement in numerous international projects. Among the achievements discussed were the opening of the Arabic Language Academy's BOT headquarters in Mauritania, the inauguration of the Hall of Arabic Studies at Al-Farabi University, and participation in the Arabic Language Festival at the University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. Additionally, the Academy's role in various global book fairs was highlighted.
The Academy has also hosted numerous linguistic councils, featuring poets and experts, and facilitated training courses, seminars, and forums on diverse topics related to the Arabic language. These events have played a vital role in engaging the global Arabic-speaking community and advancing knowledge of the language.
Another noteworthy accomplishment was the publication of six issues of the Academy’s journal and the release of the third edition of *Al-Amali Al-Kubra*, which was a revised and corrected edition based on three original handwritten manuscripts.
The meeting also acknowledged the success of the *Second Sharjah International Conference on Arabic Language Studies in Europe (SICALE)*, which gathered 24 scholars specializing in Oriental studies and Arab linguistics. The conference provided a platform for scholarly exchanges and discussions on the future of Arabic language studies.
In addition, updates were provided on the *Sharjah Award for Linguistic and Lexical Studies*. The arbitration committees have completed their review of the entries, and the winners will be honored at a special ceremony on December 18, coinciding with World Arabic Language Day.
The Board also discussed the ongoing development of the *Comprehensive Arabic Encyclopedia for Sciences, Arts, and Literature*. This ambitious project aims to provide a unique and comprehensive resource that documents the contributions of notable Arab and Muslim figures, key terminology, and historical events in the Arab world, highlighting their importance across various fields of knowledge.
The meeting was attended by esteemed BOT members, including Dr. Ahmed Al-Dhabib, former Director of King Saud University in Saudi Arabia; Dr. Ibrahim Al-Saafin, former Head of the Arabic Language Department at the University of Sharjah; Dr. Abdullah bin Saif Al-Tobi, Director of the Centre for Translation, Arabisation, and Interest in Arabic Language in Oman; Muhammad Safi Al-Mosteghanemi, Secretary General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah; and Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director-General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
