The new company will work together equally with SoftBank and OpenAI both owning half. They will offer a new service called Cristal to help companies organize their work. Cristal can understand and manage data from reports, emails, and meetings all at once, making things faster and easier for businesses.
SoftBank plans to spend $3 billion each year to use this service across its own companies. The two companies hope that Cristal will help businesses in Japan first, but also show how this service can be used around the world.
At a meeting with 500 businesses in Japan, SoftBank’s CEO, Masayoshi Son, showed Cristal and explained how it can make work more organized. He said this technology is made for Japanese companies, but it can also be used by businesses everywhere.
This partnership comes after SoftBank and OpenAI also started a project called Stargate, which plans to help improve technology in the United States with a $500 billion investment.
The announcement comes right after a Chinese company called DeepSeek surprised many with its powerful technology that works at a lower cost.
On the same day, OpenAI introduced a new feature for ChatGPT called "deep research." This tool can do in minutes what would normally take a human hours to finish.
