His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, witnessed the signing of a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the University of Sharjah (UOS) and the Tamayuz Institutional Excellence Award. The agreement was formalised at the university to launch a knowledge empowerment programme aimed at advancing institutional excellence.
Driving Quality and Competitive Excellence
During the signing, His Highness highlighted the significance of the Tamayuz Award in enhancing institutional performance and fostering a culture of quality. He noted that insights from previous brainstorming sessions are now being actively implemented to further strengthen the award framework.
He emphasised that while excellence exists across all institutions, such awards play a crucial role in identifying top performers and creating a competitive environment that drives continuous improvement. Participating entities were also encouraged to leverage feedback from earlier award cycles and nominate employees for specialised training programmes.
MoU Focuses on Human Capital Development
The MoU was signed by Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Director of the Tamayuz Award, and Professor Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, in the presence of senior officials.
The agreement focuses on developing human capital by training professionals in excellence frameworks. Key initiatives include:
Institutional Excellence Diploma for organisational teams
Job Excellence Programme for individual employees
These programmes aim to equip participants with the skills needed to prepare and present excellence portfolios aligned with recognised evaluation standards.
Building a Sustainable Excellence Ecosystem
The partnership outlines a flexible framework that allows for future collaboration and programme expansion. It represents a strategic step toward embedding excellence as a long-term organisational culture rather than a short-term goal.
Officials noted that the collaboration bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enabling institutions to adopt structured methodologies and achieve sustainable performance outcomes.
Leaders Highlight Impact and Vision
Hassan Al Mansouri praised the continued support of the award’s leadership, stating that it motivates institutions to reach higher performance levels and strengthens collaboration across sectors.
Professor Esameldin Agamy emphasised that the partnership will help organisations translate concepts of excellence into actionable practices, enhancing teamwork and institutional capabilities. He also highlighted the award’s diverse categories as a key strength that encourages innovation and healthy competition.
Mona Al Ghawi, General Coordinator of the Tamayuz Award, underlined that the initiative goes beyond training. She described it as a platform for building knowledge-driven institutions capable of adapting to change and achieving sustainable growth.
Training Programmes to Deliver Measurable Outcomes
Dr Asmaa Nusairi, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development, detailed the structure of the training programmes.
The Job Excellence Programme spans 40 training hours and focuses on helping employees convert individual achievements into measurable institutional impact. It includes practical workshops, evaluation simulations, and preparation of complete nomination files.
Meanwhile, the Institutional Excellence Professional Diploma offers 120 hours of training designed for excellence teams and organisational leaders. The programme covers all key award categories and includes real-world projects to ensure direct workplace impact.
Towards a Culture of Continuous Improvement
The MoU marks a significant milestone in Sharjah’s efforts to promote institutional excellence. By investing in training, knowledge sharing, and strategic collaboration, the initiative aims to build agile, future-ready institutions capable of sustained success.
