Sharjah is stepping up its security education with bold initiatives at the Sharjah Police Academy (SPA). His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, chaired the Academy’s Council meeting, emphasizing the Academy’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and practical training.
The Council meeting highlighted the Academy’s ongoing efforts to develop a comprehensive security education model, combining quality instruction with real-world applicability. Leaders praised the Academy’s staff for advancing academic, research, and training programs aligned with the Emirate’s long-term vision.
Advancing Training and Academic Excellence
Discussions at the meeting focused on new development projects to enhance both academic and practical training capabilities. A key highlight was the counter-terrorism program conducted in partnership with France’s RAID unit, which included advanced training in assessment shooting, crisis management, and tactical operations.
The Academy is also advancing its digital transformation with the Virtual Centre for Education and Training, aiming to create an interactive environment where students can learn through a mix of virtual simulations and hands-on exercises. In addition, an interactive virtual book project is being introduced to merge theoretical knowledge with practical experience, fostering deeper student engagement.
Global Engagement and Cultural Representation
The Academy’s musical band recently represented the UAE at the Spasskaya International Festival in Moscow. Their performances showcased both Emirati culture and the professionalism of the Academy’s members, earning widespread international recognition.
The Council also reviewed cadet admissions, academic promotions, and proposals to expand training partnerships. Outstanding students were recognized with medals for their achievements, highlighting SPA’s focus on nurturing future leaders in security and public safety.
The meeting was attended by Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Vice Chairman of the Council, along with senior officials and faculty, ensuring a collaborative approach to shaping the next generation of security professionals.
