Emirati Jiu-Jitsu player Abdul Rahman Ahmed Abdul Haq, a 19-year-old athlete representing Baniyas Club, has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the gold medal in the 56 kg amateur category at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, currently taking place at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City.

The young champion expressed that Jiu-Jitsu has completely transformed his life, helping him become more disciplined, confident, and mentally strong. He said that the sport has given him a new way of looking at challenges, both on and off the mat, shaping his attitude toward life and competition.

In an interview after his victory, Abdul Rahman said, “Jiu-Jitsu has completely changed my life. It taught me the meaning of commitment and discipline. It made me look at everything in my life with a spirit of challenge and determination. Before I practiced it, I was an ordinary person, but today I feel more confident, disciplined, organized, and responsible.”

He added that his passion for Jiu-Jitsu began when he was still in school, thanks to the strong support of the UAE’s wise leadership, which has encouraged and developed sports culture among students across the country. He explained that the UAE’s national programs helped him discover his talent and provided him with the facilities and training needed to reach the global stage.

Abdul Rahman shared that since his school days, Jiu-Jitsu has become an important part of his life and daily routine. Over the years, he has spent countless hours training, learning techniques, and improving his mental and physical strength. The sport, he said, became not just a competition but a lifestyle that defines who he is today.

He described Jiu-Jitsu as a source of mental and emotional development, saying it has taught him patience, respect for others, and the importance of discipline. The lessons he learned from the sport go beyond the mat — they influence his everyday behavior, helping him stay calm, focused, and confident when dealing with life’s difficulties.

Abdul Rahman said, “Jiu-Jitsu is not just a hobby for me. It is a way of life that has helped me grow mentally, emotionally, and socially. It taught me patience, how to respect my opponents, and how to deal with challenges using the same focus I use in matches.”

The young champion also highlighted his ambition for the future, saying he hopes to win more international titles and achieve the black belt, the highest level in Jiu-Jitsu. He wants to make his country proud by continuing to represent the UAE on the global stage and inspire more young Emiratis to take up the sport.

He added, “My dream is to achieve more championships and to earn the black belt. I want to give back to my country for all the support and opportunities it has given me. Jiu-Jitsu is now a big part of my life, and I will continue to work hard to make my nation proud.”

Abdul Rahman’s success story is a reflection of the UAE’s continued efforts to develop and promote Jiu-Jitsu as a national sport. Over the years, the country has become a global hub for this martial art, hosting world-class tournaments and nurturing new generations of athletes through school and club programs.

The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is one of the sport’s most prestigious events, attracting thousands of participants from around the world. The competition serves as a platform for both amateur and professional players to showcase their skills, strength, and discipline.

Abdul Rahman has already made a name for himself through his performances in previous tournaments. Among his notable achievements is his gold medal win at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam, one of the most competitive Jiu-Jitsu events in the region. His consistent performance and dedication have made him one of the UAE’s most promising young athletes in the sport.

He expressed deep gratitude to his coaches, teammates, and the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for their continuous guidance and encouragement. He said that the strong training system and supportive environment in the UAE have played a key role in shaping his journey to success.

Abdul Rahman’s victory is not only a personal triumph but also an inspiration for young athletes across the country. His story demonstrates how dedication, hard work, and national support can help young Emiratis reach global excellence in sports.

As he continues his journey, Abdul Rahman hopes to keep improving, compete in higher categories, and bring more honor to the UAE. His determination and positive attitude stand as an example of the new generation of Emirati champions who are making their mark in international sports.
