The Emirates Racing Authority has announced that 48 purebred Arabian and mixed-breed horses took part in the seventh trial race held at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. The event, which covered a distance of 1,000 meters, took place yesterday evening and was organized to test the readiness of horses ahead of the upcoming competitive racing season.

According to a statement issued by the Emirates Racing Authority, the trial event featured a total of seven races. Out of these, five were dedicated to purebred Arabian horses, with 34 horses competing across those races. The remaining two races included 14 purebred mixed-breed horses that had not previously participated in any official races. This gave new competitors an important opportunity to gain experience and exposure on a professional track.

The authority explained that 19 horses competed in three races specifically for purebred Arabian horses that were making their racing debut. Additionally, two more races were held for 15 purebred Arabian horses that had already competed in past events. The mix of new and experienced horses ensured a balanced competition that supported both training and development for different levels of racing expertise.

Rashid Al Balushi, a member of the supervisory committee at the Emirates Racing Authority, highlighted that the continuation of weekly trial races every Wednesday across various tracks in the country is a key part of the Authority’s seasonal plan. These trials are crucial for assessing the readiness of horses, trainers, and riders while also ensuring safety and fairness in upcoming official competitions.

He further noted that the consistency of the trial events reflects the commitment of the Emirates Racing Authority to maintain high standards in the UAE’s horse racing sector. The Authority’s approach ensures that both purebred Arabian and mixed-breed horses receive equal opportunities to prepare for the competitive season. This also helps improve performance levels and strengthens the reputation of UAE racing on an international scale.

Al Balushi pointed out that the previous trial, held at Jebel Ali Racecourse last week, was also a major success. That event featured 45 horses competing across seven races, over distances of 800 and 1,000 meters. The continued success of these trials shows the growing enthusiasm among owners, trainers, and jockeys to participate in the UAE’s racing calendar.

He added that Meydan Racecourse remains one of the most advanced and important racing venues in the world. It offers world-class facilities that ensure the safety and comfort of horses, riders, and spectators. The Authority’s decision to host trial races at Meydan allows new horses to adapt to international-level racing conditions.

These trial races also give trainers valuable insights into the horses’ performance and physical condition before entering major competitions. Many owners and trainers use these events to identify areas that need improvement, helping them prepare for higher-level races held later in the season.

The Emirates Racing Authority’s ongoing efforts to organize regular trials demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the professionalism and global reputation of the UAE’s equestrian sector. Through careful planning, fair competition, and continuous support to all participants, the Authority ensures that each race meets international racing standards.

With every successful trial, the UAE strengthens its position as a leading center for horse racing and breeding excellence. The trial series not only promotes the growth of the sport locally but also highlights the nation’s deep cultural connection to Arabian horses, which have long been a symbol of pride and heritage in the region.

As the current season continues, more trial events are expected to take place across other key racecourses in the country. Each round serves as both a test of performance and a celebration of the UAE’s dedication to equestrian excellence.
