The Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA), which is organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), has added two special categories this year in its 12th edition. These categories are called the University Challenge and the AI Skills Camp (AISC). They are designed to recognize smart and creative work in communication and to encourage new ideas and technology in how the government shares information.
The University Challenge
The University Challenge is a fun three-day competition held together with the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). It invites students from universities all over the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to show their creative communication projects. This challenge helps students use new ideas and technology to make government communication better.

AI Skills Camp
The AI Skills Camp (AISC) is another important category. It is organized in partnership with the Rubu’ Qarn Life Skills Center in Sharjah. This camp creates a space where students can learn and improve practical skills in artificial intelligence (AI). The focus is on using smart technologies to create and manage government and media content.
Her Excellency Alya Al Suwaidi, who is the Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, said that the SGCA wants to support creative competitions like these. She said the award aims to celebrate excellent work and big achievements in digital communication. It also wants to encourage the use of modern technology to better connect with the public. Alya Al Suwaidi explained that technology is very important in how governments communicate today.
She also said that these two categories help university students to come up with new ideas and smart strategies. This support helps improve the quality of government communication. These categories also make the award bigger and better by allowing more people to take part. This helps government communication grow at the local, regional, and even global levels.
The 12th SGCA is very special because it has 23 categories. These categories cover many important areas like government departments, international organizations, private companies, individual awards, a special “Best Innovators Competition in Smart Communication,” awards chosen by the jury, and awards from partners.
Anyone who wants to take part can send their work in for any of the categories until July 24. The winners will be announced and given their awards during the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) in September.
