The Dubai Maritime Authority has introduced a new service to help people renew their licenses for small pleasure boats and visiting foreign boats without having to go anywhere in person. This service is called the Remote Technical Inspection Service. It works for pleasure marine vessels up to 12 meters long, water sports crafts, and foreign visiting boats.
Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Maritime Authority, said this new service is part of the Authority’s plan to use more digital technology. He explained that the service follows the instructions of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The goal is to make life easier for people and to improve government services by cutting out unnecessary steps and making things faster and better.

Sheikh Saeed added that the remote inspection service shows how much the Authority wants to improve how things work and offer new ideas that keep up with the world. This digital service helps customers get the inspections they need without having to visit in person. It also helps the business keep running smoothly.
He pointed out that this service helps make sure all maritime rules are followed well. It lets customers do their inspections in an easy way while making sure safety and quality rules are met. Plus, it speeds up the whole process and makes customers happier.
Hamed Hassan, who is the Director of the Maritime Registration Department at the Dubai Maritime Authority, explained how customers can use this service. First, they can book an inspection appointment online or by asking the Maritime Registration Department. After the booking is confirmed and the payment is done, customers need to complete a checklist of things for the inspection. Then, they will get a secure link to join the remote inspection.
At the scheduled time, the customer and the inspector will join a virtual meeting. The inspector will tell the customer what to show based on the checklist. The session will be recorded, but only after the customer agrees, to keep everything clear and follow the Authority’s rules for digital services.
After the inspection, the inspector will write a report with the results. This report will be sent by email to the customer and will also be available for download in the customer’s personal account on the Authority’s website.
This new remote inspection service makes it easier and faster for people to renew their marine licenses while keeping safety and quality high.
