The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has officially announced that the phased rollout of the Riyadh Metro is complete, with the Orange Line (Line 3) starting its operations on Sunday, January 5. This marks the full operational launch of all six lines in the Riyadh Metro network.

The Orange Line, or Line 3, will connect the eastern and western parts of Riyadh. It spans 41 kilometers, from Jeddah Road in the west to the second eastern ring road near Khashm Al Aan in the east. This completion is an important milestone, finalizing the phased plan that was first introduced by King Salman during the project's launch in November 2024.

Starting at 6:00 AM on Sunday, the Orange Line began welcoming passengers at five stations: Jeddah Road Station, Tuwaiq Station, Douh Station, Harun Al-Rashid Road Station, and Al-Naseem Station. Al-Naseem Station is particularly important because it connects the Orange Line with the Purple Line, allowing passengers to transfer between the two lines.

Along with the launch of the Orange Line, RCRC also opened three new stations on the Blue Line, which connects Olaya Street to Batha. The new stations are Al Morooj Station, Bank Al Bilad Station, and King Fahd Library Station.

Earlier in December 2024, Riyadh Metro began operating its Blue Line, Yellow Line, and Purple Line on December 1. Then, the Red Line and Green Line started on December 15.

The full operation of all six lines is a big step forward in improving transportation across Riyadh. It will make travel much easier and faster for both residents and visitors. The Riyadh Metro, which is the largest in the Middle East and the world’s longest driverless train system, stretches over 176 kilometers and has 85 stations, including four main hubs.

Passengers can use the metro from 6:00 AM until midnight. Tickets can be bought using the Darb application, ticket offices, or self-service machines at stations. There are several digital payment options available, including credit cards, bank payments, and mobile devices.
