Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract for the Al Qudra Street Development Project, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and under the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This project aims to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and support the growing population of Dubai.

The project, costing AED 798 million, will extend from the intersection of Al Qudra Street with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, continuing through Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and reaching Emirates Road. It includes the construction of bridges totaling 2,700 meters and the expansion of the existing road by 11.6 kilometers. These improvements will significantly enhance the road’s capacity, reducing travel time from 9.4 minutes to just 2.8 minutes. The project will benefit approximately 400,000 residents and visitors in key development areas.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, emphasized that the Al Qudra Street Development Project is a crucial step in strengthening the east-west road network. It serves key areas such as Arabian Ranches, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Studio City, Akoya, Mudon, DAMAC Hills, and The Sustainable City. The new developments will ease traffic congestion and provide direct connectivity to Al Qudra City and other major hubs.
The project involves multiple infrastructure upgrades, including the construction of a 600-meter bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Street and the connecting road between Arabian Ranches and Dubai Studio City. This bridge will have four lanes in each direction, increasing the street’s capacity from 6,600 vehicles per hour to 19,200 vehicles per hour and cutting waiting time at the intersection from 113 seconds to 52 seconds.
Further enhancements include a 700-meter bridge with seven lanes in both directions at the intersection of Al Qudra Street and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. Additional auxiliary lanes will be built to ensure seamless traffic movement. A 500-meter bridge will facilitate traffic flow towards Jebel Ali, while a 900-meter bridge will serve vehicles heading towards Downtown Dubai and Dubai International Airport. Service roads spanning three kilometers will also be developed on both sides of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street to improve connectivity with surrounding development projects. The upgrades will increase the street’s capacity from 7,800 vehicles per hour to 19,400 vehicles per hour, reducing waiting time at the intersection from 393 seconds to 60 seconds.
The project will also extend Al Qudra Street from the intersection with Emirates Road to the roundabout near Town Square, Mira, and DAMAC Hills 2. This expansion will cover 3.4 kilometers, improving access to residential and commercial areas. In a later phase, a new road will be built in the southern part of the developers’ area, extending 4.8 kilometers to connect with Emirates Road. This will further enhance accessibility and ensure smooth traffic flow.
Additionally, the number of lanes on both sides of Emirates Road will be expanded over a 4.8-kilometer stretch, strengthening connectivity with nearby developments. These efforts are part of RTA’s commitment to enhancing Dubai’s road infrastructure, promoting road safety, and supporting economic growth by making daily commutes faster and more efficient for residents and visitors alike.
