Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has inaugurated a significant bridge as a key component of the Garn Al Sabkha-Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road Intersection Improvement Project on Sunday. This project is a vital endeavor aimed at enhancing traffic flow and infrastructure development in the region. The newly opened bridge, measuring 666 meters in length with two lanes, is a pivotal addition facilitating smoother traffic movement. It diverts traffic from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to the service road leading to Jumeirah Golf Estate and Dubai Production City entrances.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at RTA, revealed that the project's completion rate has reached an impressive 90%. This milestone underscores the commitment to fulfilling the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to advance road infrastructure in line with the city's development and population expansion needs.

Moreover, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, has been actively monitoring the project's progress. The initiative establishes a crucial link between key roads like Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, First Al Khail Road, and Al Asayel Street, thereby enhancing traffic connectivity and accessibility.
Upon completion, the project is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Garn Al Sabkha Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, benefiting commuters heading towards Al Qusais and Deira. The improvement will also notably decrease travel time for motorists traveling from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Al Yalayes Street, thereby streamlining traffic flow in the area.
The project involves the construction of four bridges, each strategically positioned to optimize traffic movement. These bridges, equipped with advanced infrastructure and designed to accommodate varying traffic volumes, are integral to the overall project's success. Additionally, the initiative includes comprehensive road works spanning 7 km, encompassing enhancements to surface intersections, lighting, drainage systems, and traffic management facilities.
The Garn Al Sabkha-Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road Intersection Improvement Project forms part of RTA's broader strategic plan to develop vital traffic corridors and arterial roads. These developments, exemplified by recent projects like Al Yalayes Street and Expo Street, underscore Dubai's ongoing commitment to advancing its mobility networks and supporting future urban growth and development.
