Qatar Airways and Kenya Airways have signed a very important document called a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU shows that both airlines want to work closely together as partners. This partnership will include a codeshare agreement and more flights between Kenya and Qatar.
The signing ceremony happened on Tuesday in Doha, the capital city of Qatar. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways Group, and Allan Kilavuka, the Managing Director and CEO of Kenya Airways Group, signed this MoU.

What Is A Codeshare Agreement?
A codeshare agreement is when two airlines agree to sell seats on each other's flights. This means that people can buy a ticket from Kenya Airways but fly on a Qatar Airways plane or vice versa. It helps passengers travel to more places easily using just one ticket.
What Does This Partnership Include?
More Flights Between Doha And Nairobi
Qatar Airways will start a third daily flight between Doha and Nairobi. This means there will be three flights every day between these two cities. These flights will be under a codeshare with Kenya Airways, and passengers can book them in the coming days.
New Flights Between Mombasa And Doha
Kenya Airways will also start flights between Mombasa, which is another city in Kenya, and Doha. These flights will be operated by Kenya Airways but will be marketed by Qatar Airways. They will start in the winter season later this year.
Codeshare On Other Routes
Both airlines will also codeshare on other routes in their networks. This will give passengers more choices and easy connections to many destinations around the world.
What Will They Do Other Than Flights?
Apart from flights, Qatar Airways and Kenya Airways will also work together in many other parts of their business. These include:
Cargo business: They will help each other to send goods and parcels faster and easier.

Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, the CEO of Qatar Airways, said this partnership shows that Qatar Airways wants to build strong relationships with African countries. He said that this agreement is very special because Qatar Airways has been flying to Kenya for 20 years now.
He added that Qatar Airways is also working with other African airlines, like Airlink, to improve air travel in Africa. According to him, this partnership will help the aviation sector and economy in Africa to grow faster.

Allan Kilavuka, the CEO of Kenya Airways, also shared his views. He said that this partnership is part of their turnaround strategy, which means they are trying to improve their airline business. This strategy has helped Kenya Airways make a profit this year after more than 10 years of losses.
He said that this collaboration with Qatar Airways will help Kenya Airways to increase tourism in Kenya. More tourists will come to visit Kenya because of better flight connections. It will also help in sending more air cargo from Kenya to other countries, which is good for Kenya’s economy and trade.
