OpenAI has shared exciting news! They announced on their official X account (the site that used to be called Twitter) that a new version of their powerful tool, "Deep Research," is now part of ChatGPT — and it's easier for more people to use.
This updated version uses a special model called "o4-mini," which was made by OpenAI itself. The company says this new version is almost as smart as the original Deep Research tool. Even though the responses are a little shorter now, they still keep the deep thinking and careful accuracy that OpenAI is known for.

The best part? Free users of ChatGPT can now try this lightweight version too! They can complete up to five tasks every month. People who pay for the Plus or Team plans can do 25 tasks each month, using either the full or the lighter version of the tool. Those who are on the Pro plan get the most — 250 tasks every month.
Starting next week, people who use the Enterprise and Education plans will also be able to use the new Deep Research tool. Their limits will be the same as those on the Plus and Team plans.
Deep Research is one of the most powerful things ChatGPT can do. It helps users study websites and other online information, then create full reports that even include where the facts come from. Now, with the new lighter version, even more people can use Deep Research and still enjoy the high quality that OpenAI promises.
