Sharjah is taking a major step forward in its digital transformation journey with the formation of the Higher Committee for Digital Integration. The decree, issued by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, aims to establish a structured and cohesive approach to implementing digital strategies across the emirate.
The committee, which reports directly to the Sharjah Executive Council, will be chaired by Sheikh Saud bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Digital Department. Its membership includes top officials from key government departments, including finance, municipal affairs, town planning, electricity, water, and digital development, ensuring a cross-sector approach to digital initiatives.
The mandate of the committee focuses on strategic oversight and decision-making to guarantee the effective application of Sharjah’s Digital Transformation Strategy. Responsibilities include aligning government entities, approving key digital policies, monitoring progress on joint digital projects, resolving cross-sector challenges, and supervising investments in technology initiatives.
The decree sets a two-year term for committee members, with the possibility of renewal, and specifies that the committee will continue functioning until a new formation is established. It also emphasizes reporting obligations to the Executive Council, covering challenges, progress, and recommended solutions, ensuring accountability and transparency in driving the emirate’s digital agenda.
With this new committee, Sharjah aims to strengthen governance, reduce operational risks, and accelerate the pace of digital adoption across government sectors. By promoting collaboration and integration among entities, the initiative seeks to avoid duplication and ensure a seamless implementation of digital transformation objectives, positioning the emirate as a leading hub for innovation and technology.
