The Season 2 finale of The Golden Bachelor saw Mel Owens conclude his journey without a formal engagement. The 66-year-old former NFL star offered his final rose on Wednesday, November 12, to Peg Munson in Antigua after Cindy decided to leave the show, citing doubts about Mel’s feelings.
Cindy chose to leave before entering the Fantasy Suite, feeling that Mel was not ready for a serious commitment. She explained that although she had given him chances to express deeper feelings, he continued to indicate that he would not consider engagement for a few years. “I’m looking for somebody who can’t live without me, and I didn’t get that from him,” Cindy said.
Mel then revealed to Peg that she was the only woman remaining. Peg later met Mel’s family, including his sons, and described them as “absolutely wonderful.”
During the final rose ceremony, Mel presented Peg with a ring. He clarified that it was not a proposal, but a symbol of commitment to continue exploring their future together. Peg expressed her trust in Mel, saying she appreciated the honesty and the bond they had formed. Mel stated that the ring “represents our commitment to love, to give us time to figure out together what our future holds.”
