Mansoor bin Mohammed attends the 12th Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament

His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, attended the 12th edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament. He highlighted the tournament’s role in improving the skills of local athletes by allowing them to compete with top international and professional players. He also praised the event for encouraging community participation and increasing interest in different sports across the UAE.

The Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament was launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. Over the years, it has grown into one of the most important sports events in the region, attracting both professional and amateur athletes from around the world. The tournament features competitions in various sports, creating a platform for top-tier competition and community involvement.

During his visit, His Highness Sheikh Mansoor watched exciting matches in padel and volleyball at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex. He also observed cycling competitions on the streets of Meydan, where riders showcased their endurance and skill on the second day of the event.

Sheikh Mansoor was accompanied by several key officials, including Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of the UAE Padel Association; His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council; His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council; His Excellency Ismail Al Hashemi, First Vice President of the Asian Padel Federation and Second Vice President of the UAE Padel Association; Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council; and Hassan Al Mazrouei, Tournament Director.

Sheikh Mansoor expressed his happiness at the continued success of the tournament. He noted that each year, the event introduces new and exciting competitions, attracting international teams and legendary athletes. This has helped raise the level of competition, benefiting local athletes who get the chance to train and compete with some of the best players in the world.

He also spoke about how the tournament has encouraged a greater interest in sports among UAE residents. Every year, more people take part, with over 8,000 participants now competing, including both professionals and amateurs. The tournament has also created a vibrant atmosphere for families and sports fans, who come together to enjoy high-level competitions during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Sheikh Mansoor reaffirmed that Dubai will continue to support and expand the tournament, ensuring it remains a key event that strengthens Dubai’s position as a leading global sports hub.

He also praised the high level of competition seen at this year’s event. The padel tournament featured international teams alongside the UAE national team, which is currently ranked number one in Asia. The volleyball tournament, which will conclude on March 20, has also attracted some of the world’s top players.

Several well-known international teams are participating in the volleyball competition. The Zabeel Panthers team includes players from Belarusian champions Shakhtyor Soligorsk. The Al Hilal team features players from Grottazzolina, one of Italy’s top clubs. The Al Ameed team has players from Pallavolo Padova, another leading Italian club. Additionally, two Russian teams, WVC Dynamo Moscow and Nova Novokuybyishevsk, have provided top players for the Al Tadawi 1 and Tadawi 2 teams.

During his visit, Sheikh Mansoor also met with several athletes, including people of determination competing in cycling races. He praised their dedication and competitive spirit, highlighting the tournament’s commitment to supporting people of determination. Since its beginning, the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament has ensured their full participation by including special competitions tailored for them.

Sheikh Mansoor reaffirmed that the tournament will continue to grow, providing opportunities for athletes, engaging the community, and enhancing Dubai’s reputation as a city that values sports and inclusivity.
