His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who serves as the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance, met today with Her Excellency Emma Reynolds, the UK’s Economic Secretary to the Treasury. The meeting took place at His Highness’s office.
During the discussion, Sheikh Maktoum highlighted the strong economic ties between the UAE and the UK, emphasizing that their relationship continues to grow and develop. He noted that both countries share a vision for a modern and sustainable global economy. The UAE, he said, is committed to strengthening its partnership with the UK, focusing on long-term economic success and innovation-driven growth.

A key topic of the meeting was the importance of increasing trade and investment between the two nations. The UAE is currently the UK’s biggest trading partner in the Middle East, and both sides agreed on the need to build on this foundation. They discussed ways to enhance financial cooperation, encourage investment, and create sustainable financial policies. They also explored opportunities to support financial markets and promote growth in the financial services and fintech sectors.
Several senior officials were present at the meeting, including His Excellency Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the Dubai Financial Market; His Excellency Essa Kazim, Governor of Dubai International Financial Centre; His Excellency Fadel Al Ali, Chairman of the Dubai Financial Services Authority; and Her Excellency Safeya Hashem Al Safi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Commercial Control and Governance Sector at the Ministry of Economy.
The meeting reaffirmed the UAE and UK's commitment to strengthening their economic relationship and working together to achieve mutual growth and prosperity.
