European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, has welcomed the newly signed Gaza peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, calling it a “significant breakthrough” and a crucial step toward ending months of devastating conflict.
In a post shared on X, Kallas described the deal as “a major diplomatic accomplishment and a real chance to end a devastating war and release all the hostages.” She added that the European Union stands ready to support its implementation in every possible way.

The first phase of the agreement, brokered through intense international mediation, includes a mutual ceasefire, the gradual release of hostages, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid into Gaza. The truce marks the first tangible progress after months of violence that have left thousands dead and displaced countless families across the region.
Diplomatic sources say the breakthrough came after weeks of negotiations involving Egypt, Qatar, and the United States. The agreement is expected to ease regional tensions and pave the way for broader peace discussions if both parties adhere to the outlined commitments.
As calm begins to return to parts of Gaza, hopes are rising that this deal could signal a turning point — not just for the people of Gaza and Israel, but for the wider Middle East, weary of conflict and searching for stability.
