The Los Angeles Clippers finally ended their six-game losing streak with a thrilling 133-127 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in a double-overtime NBA Cup match. It was one of their most hard-fought wins of the season, and James Harden was the biggest reason behind it. He finished with an incredible 41-point triple-double, his 82nd career one, helping the Clippers remain unbeaten in West Group B.
James Harden delivered his best performance of the season by scoring 41 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and making 11 assists. He played for 51 minutes and stayed strong until the very end. Harden scored four important points in the second overtime, helping his team take control of the game. His powerful scoring and playmaking lifted the Clippers when they needed him the most. This triple-double was also his eighth as a Clipper, the most in franchise history.
Although Harden was the star, the Clippers also received key contributions from Ivica Zubac and Bogdan Bogdanovic. Zubac dominated inside with a season-high 27 points and 11 rebounds. Bogdanovic added 21 points, hitting important shots that helped the Clippers maintain their lead during the second and third quarters. Derrick Jones Jr. also scored 15 points and sealed the game with two late free throws.
Dallas refused to give up and fought hard until the final seconds. D’Angelo Russell and Naji Marshall both scored 28 points each, keeping the Mavericks close throughout the match. Russell was especially impressive in the final minutes of regulation, scoring eight straight points. His layup with 52.4 seconds left tied the game at 114-114, pushing the contest into overtime. Rookie Cooper Flagg kept Dallas alive in the first overtime with a clutch layup that made it 123-123.
The game remained tight across both overtime periods. After Harden’s floater attempt was blocked at the end of the first overtime, both teams entered the second overtime exhausted. Turner and Jones stepped up again, and Harden took control by scoring early. The Clippers outscored Dallas 10-4 in the second overtime, finally pulling away after nearly 60 minutes of intense basketball.
Earlier in the game, Harden had sparked an 18-2 run in the second quarter, hitting back-to-back three-pointers that gave the Clippers a 52-42 lead. He reached 23 points by halftime, and the team went into the break leading 62-55. The Mavericks stayed in the fight, but Harden’s scoring kept the Clippers steady before Dallas’ late-game push.
Dallas received some positive news as center Dereck Lively II returned after missing nine games with a knee injury. He played 17 minutes, scoring four points and grabbing five rebounds. His energy helped the Mavericks, but it wasn’t enough to stop Harden’s brilliance.
With this win, the Clippers improved to 2-0 in Group B, keeping them on top of the standings. Dallas fell to 0-2 and now faces a difficult path forward in the NBA Cup. For the Clippers, this match could be a turning point as they try to build momentum after a rough stretch of losses.
