In Khan Yunis, Gaza, Alaa Abu Ahmed's medical treatment for a chronic condition was disrupted due to the fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas militants. During the conflict, the Nasser hospital, where Alaa sought treatment, was attacked, causing chaos and halting medical services. However, the hospital has recently reopened, bringing hope to patients like Alaa.
Despite ongoing airstrikes and battles in other parts of Gaza, Nasser Hospital is gradually returning to normalcy. The hospital's corridors, once chaotic, are now orderly, with medical staff from both local and international organizations working together. Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has resumed its operations at the hospital, providing essential medical care to patients.

Alaa expressed relief at being able to continue her treatment at Nasser Hospital. She shared her fear of the hospital facing a fate similar to Al-Shifa, Gaza's largest hospital, which has been severely damaged by the conflict. However, with the support of organizations like MSF, Nasser Hospital is slowly recovering, focusing on orthopedic surgery and burn treatments.
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with many hospitals either closed or operating at limited capacity due to the ongoing conflict and shortages of medical supplies. The closure of aid entry points into Gaza has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, leaving many people without access to essential resources.
Despite the challenges, organizations like MSF are working tirelessly to reopen vital hospital units and provide much-needed medical care to the people of Gaza. However, the road to recovery is long, and the impact of the conflict continues to be felt by residents who have been displaced and left without basic necessities like water and electricity.
