Dubai Marina — A serious fire erupted late Friday evening on the upper floors of a 67-storey residential tower in Dubai Marina, prompting a swift and well-coordinated emergency response. Citizens were left shaken, but the swift actions of Dubai Civil Defence and other emergency teams ensured that all residents emerged safely, with zero injuries reported.

The blaze ignited around 9:30 pm, with thick smoke billowing across one side of the tall structure. A nearby resident described the sight as terrifying, recalling that “I woke up to the smell of smoke entering my room and hurried down the stairs in my pajamas.” Public footage showed flames spreading across several upper levels as fire crews raced to contain the fire.

Firefighters from multiple Civil Defence units arrived quickly, setting up operations in the streets below. Paramedics and ambulance staff were also deployed to offer both medical and mental-health support to evacuees. By 2:21 am, the Dubai Media Office confirmed that specialised teams had evacuated all 3,820 occupants from 764 apartments, managing the massive evacuation calmly and efficiently. Thankfully, no casualties or injuries occurred during the entire incident.

Over the next six hours, crews engaged in intense firefighting and roof-to-floor sweeping to ensure no hidden hotspots remained. Operations concluded with full extinguishment in the early hours of Saturday. Authority officials have not yet pinpointed a cause, but fire-safety protocols are being reviewed and inquiry teams assembled to assess structural safety and building compliance.

In the wake of the incident, local authorities praised the speed and effectiveness of the response. They confirmed that all residents were accounted for and offered shelter and reassurance. With thousands living in similar high-rises across Dubai Marina, this incident has reignited conversations around fire safety measures, emergency preparedness, and the importance of readiness drills in tall residential buildings.

This is not the first fire in the Marina district—while fewer than in past years, each event reminds residents and property developers that evacuation plans must be tested, and new fire-safety regulations are still under implementation. Local councils have pledged renewed focus on retrofitting older towers with fire-resistant cladding and upgrading escape protocols.

For residents temporarily displaced, hotels and relief centres were made available. Authorities confirmed that no displaced person was left without shelter or support. Civil Defence also urged the public to treat the ongoing incident as closed, advising people to avoid the area while cleanup and safety validations continue.
