The family of a wealthy heiress, who tragically drowned in a swimming pool, has launched a legal battle to prevent her husband from inheriting her substantial fortune of 4.4 million pounds (Rs 45,812,1840), as reported by The Metro. Despite Donald McPherson being acquitted of murder charges in 2021 due to insufficient evidence, the family is adamant about proving his involvement in her death to disqualify him from receiving her assets. McPherson had taken out multiple life insurance policies before his wife's passing, potentially gaining 3.5 million pounds from them.

Adding complexity to the case are allegations of financial difficulties and a history of criminal offenses against McPherson. Lesley Anderson KC, representing the family, argues that the heiress likely entered the water unconscious, suggesting suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident. Prosecutors had previously hinted that the death might have been a premeditated act masked as an accident. The couple's extravagant wedding and intertwined business ventures contribute layers to the narrative.

Anderson stated that Ms. Leeson, the heiress, must have been unconscious before entering the water, as she was allegedly taller than the pool's depth, and she could swim. She emphasized that the heiress's natural reaction would have been to stand up to save herself if conscious, suggesting she must have been unconscious when entering the water, possibly due to a chokehold or neck hold.

As legal proceedings unfold, McPherson maintains his innocence in his late wife's death amidst mounting scrutiny and legal challenges from the family.
