Former Facebook leader Sheryl Sandberg spent $13,000 (Rs 11.3 lakh) on fancy clothes for herself and her 26-year-old female helper during a trip to Europe, a new book claims.
The book, Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism, is written by Sarah Wynn-Williams, who worked at Facebook for six years before leaving in 2017.

The book says that during a long car ride in Europe, Sandberg and her helper rested on each other’s laps and played with each other’s hair. Sandberg also told Wynn-Williams to buy expensive clothes for both of them, which cost $13,000.
It also says that on their flight home in a private jet, Sandberg asked Wynn-Williams to "come to bed" since there was only one bed on the plane. When Wynn-Williams refused, Sandberg got very angry.
A review of the book was published by The New York Times on Monday, making these claims public.
Meta, the company that owns Facebook, has strongly denied these claims. A Meta worker said the book includes "old and false stories." They also said Wynn-Williams was removed from her job eight years ago because of "bad work and rude behavior."
Meta said that when they checked the matter before, they found no truth in Wynn-Williams' words. They also hinted that people who dislike Facebook may have paid Wynn-Williams to write this book.
The book also talks about Mark Zuckerberg and says he changed from a person who loved coding to a leader who cared more about power and fame.
The writer compared Sandberg and Zuckerberg to the "careless people" in The Great Gatsby—people who make trouble and let others suffer.
Sandberg has been in trouble before. In January, a judge said she deleted emails linked to the Facebook privacy scandal. The court found that she removed messages that were likely important to a case against Facebook. She also used a secret email account.
This book has once again raised questions about Sandberg’s time at Facebook.
