Elon Musk, the boss of Tesla and SpaceX, said on Thursday that his work with the US government will help save $150 billion in the year 2026. He is helping President Donald Trump by trying to stop waste and wrong use of money in government. Before, it was said that savings could be up to $2 trillion, but now the new number is $150 billion.

Musk spoke during a meeting at the White House, where reporters were also allowed. He said this saving will happen by cutting waste and fraud. He also said that even with less spending, people in the country will still get better service.
Elon Musk is working with a group called the Department of Government Efficiency, also known as DOGE. This team looks for places where the government spends too much money and tries to fix it. Musk had said before that his team might save one trillion dollars, but now they say it will be $150 billion.
Some people are not happy with Musk’s role. They say his companies, like Tesla, already get a lot of money from the government. So, they worry he may be helping in ways that also help his own business.
Others are also worried because the DOGE team has been allowed to look at secret money records from the US Treasury. Some think this gives them too much control.
Even with these worries, President Trump praised Musk and his team. He said they are doing a great job and told them to keep working for more time to help save more money.
Musk’s time in this job is supposed to end next month, but people are still talking about the changes he has made. Many think the work he did will be remembered for trying to stop waste and save government money.
