Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the UAE National Media Office, the UAE Media Council, and BRIDGE, met Elon Musk, CEO of X, SpaceX, Tesla, and Starlink, at Tesla’s headquarters in Palo Alto, California. The meeting focused on future technology and media collaboration, ahead of the inaugural BRIDGE Summit in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10.
Al Hamed invited Musk to participate in the summit, which is set to be the world’s largest debut media event. Discussions highlighted AI, data centres, robotics, and sustainable energy as key drivers of economic and social transformation. Musk emphasized the importance of countries providing clean, affordable energy to power innovation and praised the UAE’s leadership in AI and advanced technologies.

The meeting included a tour of Tesla’s Optimus robotics lab, showcasing robotics as a present-day reality for innovation. Both leaders discussed the ethical use of AI, the next-generation AI model Grok 5, and the UAE’s ecosystem supporting media and technology enterprises.
Opportunities for collaboration were explored in AI innovation labs, educational content, sustainability initiatives, and satellite communications through Starlink, enhancing digital access across the Middle East, Africa, and other regions. Musk also briefed Al Hamed on his new AI centre launching later this year.
Al Hamed said, “The UAE believes that media is a powerful force for knowledge and awareness. Global partnerships are a strategic necessity, enabling innovation and sustainable impact across sectors.” He described BRIDGE Summit as a platform to transform media and AI into strategic partners for responsible and innovative content.
The BRIDGE Summit aims to integrate creators, innovators, investors, and policymakers across media, entertainment, AI, gaming, music, research, and entrepreneurship, fostering a global content economy that drives culture, innovation, and growth.
The inaugural BRIDGE Summit in Abu Dhabi is scheduled for December 8-10, bringing together global technology and media leaders to explore innovation and collaboration.
