The Dubai Media Council (DMC) is working hard to support young Emiratis who want to work in the media field. As part of this effort, DMC arranged a special visit for media students from the Higher Colleges of Technology to the regional office of Edelman, a world-famous communications company.
This visit was part of the “Emirati Media Talent Pledge,” a project started by DMC. The goal of this pledge is to give young Emiratis hands-on experience and help them learn about real careers in media. The visit gave students a chance to see how a top communication firm works, talk with professionals, and understand the skills needed in the media world.

DMC said that working with private companies like Edelman is very important to improve media in Dubai and the UAE. These partnerships help students learn directly from experts and get ready for their future jobs. DMC has strong relationships with many top media organisations that help guide and train young people.
Saif Al Suwaidi, Project Manager at Dubai Media Council, said that this visit is part of a larger plan to meet the goals of the “Emirati Media Talent Pledge.” This plan was launched by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.
He said, “The future of Dubai’s media depends on young people. That’s why we are working closely with our partners to create more chances for young Emiratis to grow and succeed. Edelman’s support shows that private companies understand how important youth are in building the future of media.”
Al Suwaidi thanked Edelman for being a strong partner in the pledge and for organising this helpful visit with DMC. He praised the company for giving students a good look at how today’s communication and marketing works, especially in a digital world that keeps changing fast.
Fun and Learning at Edelman
During the visit, students joined interactive sessions where they learned how big communication companies like Edelman work. One session allowed them to ask questions directly to senior team members and young professionals at the company. The topics included what skills are needed in media, and why being creative, adaptable, and understanding different cultures is so important.
Omar Qirem, the CEO of Edelman Middle East, welcomed the students and explained what the company does. He talked about Edelman’s values and how they are always looking for young talent. He also said that they are proud to support young people and create a place where they can succeed in the fast-moving media world.
The students also went on a tour of Edelman’s different departments. They got to see how teams work together on client projects, come up with content plans, follow new trends, and handle social media.
At the end of the visit, students learned about future internship opportunities at Edelman that will be offered as part of its work with DMC.
The “Emirati Media Talent Pledge” is all about helping young people grow. It brings media companies together to guide, teach, and prepare Emiratis for careers in the media. Through internships, workshops, and visits like this one, the pledge helps young people get the real-world experience they need to succeed.
