Abu Dhabi Expands 24/7 Primary Healthcare Services Access

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), in collaboration with SEHA Clinics, has announced the expansion of operating hours across several primary healthcare centres to provide round-the-clock services.

This initiative aims to deliver timely, integrated, and patient-centric care while strengthening the overall capacity of Abu Dhabi’s healthcare system to meet growing community needs efficiently.

Focus on Urgent Care and Accessibility

As part of the expansion, selected centres will also introduce urgent care services, ensuring quicker medical attention for non-life-threatening conditions. This move is expected to significantly reduce the burden on hospital emergency departments while improving patient experience and health outcomes.

Currently, primary care centres in Mazyad and Sweihan are already operating 24/7 with urgent care services. Additionally, ten centres across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain—including Al Hili, Al Aamerah, Al Hayer, Neima, Al Quaa, Al Bateen, Al Zafaranah, Al Bahia, Madinat Mohammed Bin Zayed, and Baniyas—have transitioned to 24-hour operations.

These centres are preparing to roll out urgent care services by the second quarter of 2026, marking a phased expansion to improve geographic coverage and accessibility.

Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure

Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, highlighted that expanding 24-hour services is a key step toward building a resilient and proactive healthcare system. She emphasized that timely and convenient access to care remains central to delivering quality healthcare and improving overall community well-being.

Meanwhile, Rashed Al Qubaisi, Group Chief Operating Officer of PureHealth, described the initiative as a milestone in enhancing patient-centred services and delivering world-class healthcare solutions.

Comprehensive and Preventive Care

The expanded primary care centres will continue to offer a wide range of services, including chronic disease management, vaccinations, mental health support, health education, and specialist coordination.

Aligned with updated standards for emergency and urgent care facilities, this initiative reinforces DoH’s commitment to global best practices, ensuring quality, safety, and long-term sustainability of healthcare services across the emirate.
