The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), one of the world’s leading international business districts, has reported strong growth in the first half of 2025, attracting over 1,100 new companies and bringing its total membership close to 26,000. This performance underscores Dubai’s position as a global hub for trade, innovation, and investment.
Surge in Technology and Web3 Companies
One of the standout achievements for DMCC has been the rapid expansion of its technology ecosystem. The DMCC Crypto Centre has now surpassed 700 member companies, marking a 38% year-on-year growth. This expansion was driven by high-profile additions such as Bitcoin.com and Animoca Brands, both of which established their first regional offices within the district.
Complementing this growth, the DMCC Gaming Centre has grown to over 140 companies, while the newly launched DMCC AI Centre now hosts more than 110 firms. Altogether, nearly 1,000 companies are licensed through these three centres alone, contributing to a total of over 3,300 tech businesses operating in the district.
The ambitious plans for the sector include the upcoming Crypto Tower — a 17-storey hub designed to house blockchain incubators, an AI innovation floor, and exclusive industry facilities. Additionally, DMCC has announced “DMCC Quantum,” a new ecosystem aimed at positioning Dubai as a leader in quantum technology.
Major Commodities Achievements
Beyond technology, DMCC continues to excel in commodities. The UAE has now traded over one billion carats of diamonds in the past five years, reinforcing Dubai’s role as the global diamond capital. In coffee, DMCC set a world record at its inaugural Specialty Coffee Auction, selling a rare Panamanian coffee for USD 10,020 per kilo.
In an innovative step, DMCC has partnered with AQUA-INDEX to launch the world’s first water-backed digital asset token, part of its strategy to develop the DMCC Water Centre — a platform for sustainable water innovation and trade.
Strong International Growth
DMCC’s appeal continues to expand across global markets. The United Kingdom saw a 23% increase in company registrations, Türkiye rose by 22%, and China posted nearly 10% growth. Strategic partnerships in Beijing aim to further strengthen ties with the Chinese market.
New licensing options, including Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) and Holding Company licences, have attracted interest from multinationals, investment firms, and family offices. In Southeast Asia, DMCC’s partnership with Hawksford in Singapore is expected to boost engagement and facilitate market entry into Dubai.
Real Estate and Lifestyle Developments
To accommodate rising demand, DMCC is expanding its real estate portfolio. Uptown Dubai has seen groundbreakings for two new commercial towers, Mercer House luxury residences, and multiple new food and beverage offerings. In Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), construction is underway on the W Residences by Marriott International, alongside other major projects aimed at enhancing the district’s appeal as a vibrant, mixed-use community.
A Strategic Vision for the Future
According to DMCC Executive Chairman and CEO Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the results reflect the district’s ability to adapt to rapid changes driven by AI, Web3, and other frontier technologies. “From advanced technology to established commodities, DMCC remains the business district of choice for ambitious enterprises looking to scale with confidence,” he said.
With its integrated model combining infrastructure, business ecosystems, and global connectivity, DMCC contributes around 15% of Dubai’s foreign direct investment and 7% of its GDP. As it enters the second half of 2025, the focus will remain on high-growth sectors, sustainable trade, and further international expansion.
DMCC’s trajectory demonstrates not only its strategic importance to Dubai’s economy but also its ability to set new benchmarks for innovation-led business districts worldwide.
