Television actor Dipika Kakar, widely known for her work in Sasural Simar Ka, has shared a deeply personal update about her ongoing recovery from stage 2 liver cancer. Diagnosed in May, the 39-year-old continues to experience emotional waves of fear and anxiety despite receiving positive medical reports. Speaking in her latest vlog, she revealed that a recent visit to her oncologist, Dr Imran Shaikh, unexpectedly left her in tears even though her condition is reported to be stable.
Dipika explained that although her reports are normal and her recovery is progressing well, she sometimes feels overwhelmed by the emotional impact of her diagnosis. She recalled crying extensively when she first learned about her illness but then making a conscious effort to remain strong through surgery and recovery. However, she described her recent breakdown as something she could not control, stating that each day brings new challenges that occasionally become too heavy to contain.
She also spoke about the fluctuating nature of her emotions. There are days when she feels hopeful and confident, reassured that everything is moving in the right direction. Yet a persistent, underlying fear continues to linger in her heart. Dipika emphasised that this fear does not dominate her daily life but surfaces unpredictably, reminding her of the uncertainty that accompanies long-term illnesses.
In addition to emotional stress, Dipika outlined several physical changes and discomforts that persist as part of her recovery. She mentioned fluctuating thyroid levels, hormonal imbalance, extremely dry skin, cracking on her hands due to the dry weather, pressure in her ears and neck, and dryness in her nose. These symptoms, though seemingly small, become exhausting when experienced day after day. She noted that they serve as constant reminders of the strain her body has endured.
Despite these ongoing struggles, Dipika conveyed a message of resilience and determination. She believes that healing requires choosing courage daily and refusing to let fear take over. According to her, individuals facing similar challenges have only two choices — allow fear to consume them or confront it and move forward. She encouraged her viewers not to give up, reinforcing her belief that progress, no matter how slow or difficult, comes from persistence.
Her candid reflections have deeply resonated with fans, who continue to support her journey with empathy and encouragement as she navigates both the emotional and physical aftermath of cancer treatment.
