In a major development in the Delhi Red Fort blast case, authorities recovered a flour mill, grinder, and other electronic equipment from the house of a taxi driver in Faridabad, Haryana. These items were reportedly used to prepare chemicals for explosives.
Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie, a resident of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, is accused of playing a key role in the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10. During the investigation, officials revealed that Ganaie used the flour mill at his rented accommodation in Faridabad to grind urea and extract ammonium nitrate, which was then refined into explosive materials. Authorities recovered 360 kilograms of ammonium nitrate and other chemicals from the location.
Ganaie, who works as a doctor at Faridabad-based Al-Falah University, allegedly first brought the flour mill, grinder, and other machines to the taxi driver’s home, claiming they were gifts for his sister’s wedding. Later, he moved the equipment to his rented room in Faridabad.
The taxi driver has been detained for questioning by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). According to officials, the driver had known Ganaie for about four years after visiting Al-Falah Medical College and Hospital for treatment of his son.
Two of Ganaie’s colleagues from Al-Falah University—Shaheen Saeed from Lucknow and Adeel Ahmed Rather from Anantnag—have also been arrested in connection with the blast. The explosion, carried out by suicide bomber Umar un Nabi, killed 15 people and injured many others. Umar, a Kashmiri doctor, was also associated with Al-Falah University.
The investigation revealed that the blast was part of a larger terror module connected to Pakistan-based groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, which is affiliated with al-Qaeda. Authorities have seized over 2,900 kilograms of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, in related operations.
Officials continue to probe the full network behind the Red Fort blast, aiming to prevent future attacks and bring all responsible individuals to justice.
