The Milwaukee Bucks earned a strong 147-134 overtime win against the Charlotte Hornets in an NBA Cup East Group C battle. The game was full of excitement, fast scoring, and continuous lead changes. Fans witnessed a highly competitive match where both teams showed strong offense from start to finish. Milwaukee entered the game with hopes of staying unbeaten in their group, and they achieved that goal by controlling the overtime period with confidence.
The game entered overtime tied after neither team could pull away during regulation. When overtime started, Myles Turner hit the first shot — a three-pointer that immediately lifted Milwaukee’s energy. This early basket set the tone for the rest of the extra session. Although Miles Bridges responded for the Hornets with a quick floater, Turner struck again with another three-pointer. This shot started an 8-0 run that gave Milwaukee full control of the game. During this stretch, Kyle Kuzma also hit a three-pointer, extending the lead to 140-131 with under two minutes left.
Milwaukee outscored Charlotte 18-5 in overtime, showing their experience and strength under pressure. This was the first time all night that either team held a lead of more than six points. Before overtime, the game featured 11 ties and an incredible 32 lead changes. Both sides traded baskets throughout four quarters, but once overtime began, the Bucks found their rhythm and kept Charlotte from making a comeback.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, returning from a left knee injury, made an immediate impact. After the Hornets tried to respond with a three-pointer from Bridges, both teams had empty possessions, but Giannis then scored on two straight trips down the court. These baskets put the game out of reach and sealed the Bucks’ victory. Giannis finished with 25 points and an impressive 18 assists, just two short of his career high, along with seven rebounds.
Kyle Kuzma delivered an excellent performance with 29 points and 10 rebounds, leading all Bucks players. Ryan Rollins added 20 points while Turner, who played a key role in overtime, finished with 18 points. AJ Green scored 13, and Milwaukee also received strong contributions from the bench. Bobby Portis scored 12 points, while Cole Anthony and Gary Harris each added 10. This balanced scoring helped Milwaukee stay competitive throughout the game and dominate the overtime period.
Charlotte also had standout performers. Miles Bridges and rookie Kon Knueppel each scored 32 points, giving the Hornets a chance to win from the beginning. Charlotte even held a 10-point lead in the first half, but they could not maintain it against Milwaukee’s deep rotation. The loss was the Hornets’ fourth in their last five games, showing that despite strong individual performances, consistency remains a challenge.
LaMelo Ball returned after missing five games with a right ankle injury and made an immediate difference. He scored 16 points and delivered 10 assists, helping Charlotte stay competitive. Moussa Diabate also had a strong performance with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Collin Sexton added 14 points off the bench, and Sion James contributed 12 from the starting lineup. Their combined efforts kept the Hornets close throughout the night.
With this win, the Bucks improved to 2-0 in NBA Cup East Group C and are now the only unbeaten team in the group. Charlotte, on the other hand, fell to 0-2 and remains the only winless team in the group. Milwaukee’s strong finish in overtime showed their ability to play under pressure and make clutch plays when needed.
Milwaukee will aim to continue its strong Cup performance and carry this momentum into upcoming games. Their teamwork, balanced scoring, and smart play in crucial moments suggest they can make a deep run. Charlotte will look to regroup and fix the defensive lapses that allowed Milwaukee to dominate overtime. Their young talent showed promise, but consistency will be key for future success.
