The Kingdom of Bahrain continued its impressive run at the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, adding two more medals in judo and bringing its total medal count to three — one silver and two bronze. The Bahraini athletes demonstrated strong skill and discipline against tough regional competition, marking another proud moment for the nation at the multi-sport event.
Bahrain’s success came mainly from its judo competitors. Israpil Sagaipov earned a silver medal in the under-90kg category, putting up a strong performance through the elimination rounds before narrowly missing gold in the final bout.
In the under-81kg division, Askerbii Gerbekov claimed a bronze medal after displaying determination and control throughout his matches. His victory added another valuable medal to Bahrain’s growing collection in the competition.
Earlier in the tournament, Ruslan Poltoratsky had secured Bahrain’s first medal, winning bronze in the under-60kg category. His early success helped inspire the team and set the tone for Bahrain’s athletes across other sports.
In table tennis, Bahrain’s men’s team made a solid run, advancing to the quarter-finals after several competitive group-stage matches. However, they were eventually defeated by a strong Algerian side.
The women’s team also gave their best effort, showing great teamwork and spirit, though they were eliminated in the group stage. Despite not advancing further, the players gained valuable international experience, which will help them prepare for future tournaments.
The Bahrain volleyball team is preparing for a crucial match against Türkiye, which will decide their chances of moving ahead in the competition. The team has shown steady improvement in their performance and hopes to build on their momentum to secure a place in the next round.
This upcoming match is expected to be highly competitive, as both sides are known for their strong defensive play and quick attacking strategies. A win against Türkiye would not only boost Bahrain’s medal hopes but also enhance their confidence for future games.
Bahrain also made its debut in weightlifting at the Islamic Solidarity Games, marking an important milestone in its sporting development. Representing the nation were Adrian Granja, who competed in the men’s under-79kg category, and Ingrid Grueso, who took part in the women’s under-69kg division.
Both athletes displayed determination and strength, giving their best efforts against more experienced competitors. Their participation reflects Bahrain’s growing focus on diversifying its sports representation and investing in new disciplines for future success.
Bahrain’s performance at the Riyadh Games demonstrates the country’s commitment to nurturing talent across multiple sports. From martial arts to team competitions, Bahraini athletes have continued to represent their country with pride and professionalism.
The Islamic Solidarity Games provide an important platform for athletes from Islamic nations to compete, learn, and strengthen ties through sports. For Bahrain, the event also highlights the nation’s growing investment in athletic training, sports infrastructure, and youth development programs.
With several events still to come, Bahrain’s athletes remain focused on achieving even greater success. The strong performances in judo and the promising displays in table tennis and volleyball suggest that the Kingdom’s overall results at the Games could further improve.
As the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games continue, Bahrain’s sports officials and fans alike are proud of the athletes’ determination and sportsmanship. The medals already won serve as motivation for future competitions, as the country aims to continue building its legacy in international sports.
