The plot centers around DCP Satya Verma, a relentless upholder of law and integrity. When a formidable mob leader, Nana (Jackie Shroff), frightens his family, Satya finds himself at his breaking point. The film narrates Satya's journey of seeking justice for his family. One major takeaway is the commendable casting. Varun shines as DCP Satya, exhibiting a perfect balance of rigidness and sentiment. He lends his characteristic wit and spark to this character. His dance performance in "Nain Matakka" is lively and enjoyable.
Keerthy Suresh also stands out in her role as Meera. Her portrayal of a caring wife is heartfelt and skillful, effectively displaying affection, concern, and backing. Her acting skill makes her Bollywood entry noticeable. Amidst everyone, Jackie Shroff convincingly portrays the antagonist, Nana. Though he brings the character nervously to life, he has less screen exposure.
More scenes involving Jackie and Varun confrontation could have made the story more gripping. Even though Wamiqa Gabbi brings power to her character, her opportunities for showcasing her acting are limited. The supporting actors, including Sheeba Chaddha and Rajpal Yadav, introduce light-hearted moments into the film. Without overpowering the primary tone. However, the film has it's falls. The storyline feels diffuse and repetitive, reflecting other films like Akshay Kumar Rowdy Rathore. The first half is sluggish, with the second half speeding up while being too predictable. Misplaced humor is also found in the movie.
Sanya Malhotra’s cameo, performing "Sheila Ki Jawani's" classical version, appears pushed, not fitting into the storyline. Salman Khan cameo also seems unnecessary and fails to add value. In conclusion, Baby John flaunts excellent acting, primarily from Varun and Keerthy, but fails to fully utilize its potential. It could benefit from a denser storyline and less sluggish pace. Action movie enthusiasts may enjoy it for its emotional scenes but don't expect anything innovative or exhilarating.
