In the spirit of charity and generosity encouraged by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Endowments and Minors’ Trust Foundation in Dubai (AWQAF Dubai) has announced a partnership with Al Jalila Foundation. This collaboration aims to build a sustainable endowment facility that will help fund the treatment of cancer patients at the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital. The total cost of this project is expected to be over AED38.5 million.
A Major Step Towards Supporting Cancer Patients
AWQAF Dubai and Al Jalila Foundation have signed an official agreement to move forward with this project. As per the agreement, AWQAF Dubai will construct a seven-storey endowment building in Dubai South on a piece of land owned by Al Jalila Foundation. The land is valued at AED8.5 million. Meanwhile, Al Jalila Foundation will cover the construction costs, which will amount to AED30 million. The construction is expected to be completed within 16 months.

How the Endowment Will Work
According to the agreement, both the building and the land will remain as a permanent endowment, managed by AWQAF Dubai. The income generated from the project will go entirely towards helping cancer patients at the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital.
His Excellency Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary General of AWQAF Dubai, expressed that this partnership with Al Jalila Foundation reflects their dedication to improving healthcare services in society. The endowment will provide financial support for cancer patients and ease the burden on their families. He further confirmed that AWQAF Dubai will begin construction immediately, ensuring the project is completed within the agreed timeline. They will also manage the property to ensure maximum financial benefits for underprivileged patients.
He added, “Through our endowment projects, we strive to build a healthier and more sustainable society. Our focus on developmental endowments reinforces our commitment to serving the community and supporting national projects that improve people’s lives.”
A Lasting Impact on Healthcare
Her Excellency Dr. Raja Eisa Al Gurg, Member of the Board of Directors of DHA and Chairperson of Al Jalila Foundation, expressed her appreciation for AWQAF Dubai’s efforts in establishing this endowment. She emphasized that partnerships like this can create a lasting positive impact on patients’ lives. She also highlighted how this project aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who strongly promotes charitable and humanitarian work in the UAE.
“This endowment will provide long-term support for the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, ensuring that cancer patients receive specialized treatment,” she said. “As Dubai’s first fully integrated cancer hospital, this facility plays a crucial role in advancing cancer care.”
She further stated that this collaboration reflects Al Jalila Foundation’s dedication to its humanitarian mission of strengthening the healthcare sector. “This sustainable endowment is a significant step towards increasing national efforts to support cancer patients,” she added.
This partnership marks an important milestone in supporting healthcare initiatives in Dubai, ensuring that those battling cancer receive the care they need through a sustainable and charitable project.
