Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) has reaffirmed its commitment to the healthcare sector in Dubai with a significant contribution of AED15 million to the Al Jalila Foundation. This donation will support the development of Dubai Health’s Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, the first comprehensive cancer care facility in Dubai. The hospital, which is set to open in 2026, will offer a full spectrum of cancer services and advanced treatments, solidifying DIB's role in improving healthcare infrastructure and community well-being.
The AED15 million pledge is part of DIB's ongoing support for healthcare initiatives in the UAE, and it directly aligns with Al Jalila Foundation’s mission to lead the Giving campaign of Dubai Health. Through this partnership, DIB is helping to bring the vision of a world-class cancer hospital closer to reality. The Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital will be a state-of-the-art facility that offers both primary and advanced cancer care, marking a major step forward in the region’s healthcare landscape.
Scheduled to open its doors in 2026, the hospital will adopt an integrated model of cancer care, designed to enhance early detection and intervention. Research has shown that early diagnosis can significantly improve patient outcomes, and this facility will be equipped to provide not only primary care services but also cutting-edge treatments for cancer patients. The hospital’s holistic approach to cancer care, which spans from diagnosis to treatment and beyond, underscores Dubai Health's dedication to improving patient survival rates and quality of life.

In line with this mission, the hospital will feature multidisciplinary teams, including highly specialised cancer nurses and doctors, who will work together to deliver personalised care to each patient. By offering a comprehensive range of services under one roof, the hospital aims to reduce the stress and burden on patients and their families. Additionally, some treatments will be made available in patients’ homes, enhancing comfort and convenience during their care journey.
Beyond its clinical services, the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital will serve as a hub for research and innovation. By conducting on-site research and clinical trials, the hospital will aim to discover new therapies and treatments for cancer, contributing to the global fight against the disease. The emphasis on research will ensure that the hospital continuously improves patient outcomes through evidence-based practices, setting a new standard for cancer care not only in Dubai but also in the wider region.
Nawaf Al Rayssi, Head of Community Support Services at Dubai Islamic Bank, expressed the bank's pride in supporting this transformative healthcare project. "We are honoured to partner with Al Jalila Foundation to empower Dubai Health in this critical initiative. DIB's investment in the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital reflects our deep commitment to the health and well-being of our community. This facility will set a new benchmark for cancer care in the region and provide advanced treatment options that will offer hope to countless individuals."
Al Rayssi further emphasised DIB’s role as a responsible financial institution, stating that the bank is dedicated to the nation's development and to shaping the future of healthcare across the region. "This project is not just about treating cancer; it’s about transforming the healthcare landscape in the UAE and beyond."
Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, also highlighted the importance of DIB's contribution. "Dubai Islamic Bank's generous support for the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital is a powerful example of how community partnerships can make a real difference. This contribution enables Dubai Health to put patient care at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are making progress toward realising this world-class healthcare facility that will improve the lives of countless individuals in our community."
With the support of Dubai Islamic Bank and other key partners, the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital is poised to become a beacon of hope for cancer patients in the UAE and the surrounding region. By integrating patient care, research, and education, the hospital will lead the way in the fight against cancer, setting a new standard for excellence in healthcare.
