Emirates–Air Canada Extend Partnership to 2032

Emirates and Air Canada have decided to take their fast-growing partnership to the next level, announcing a renewed commitment that stretches all the way to December 31, 2032. The move comes just three years after the two carriers began working together, a period during which more than 550,000 passengers have already used their combined network.

The extended agreement aims to strengthen passenger travel options, expand cargo cooperation and support new potential gateways within Canada—marking one of the most significant cross-continental airline tie-ups currently in place.

Since 2022, the codeshare network between the two airlines has grown to 56 routes, linking travellers across Canada, the U.S., Dubai and dozens of global destinations. Emirates customers today can connect to 37 cities across Canada and the U.S., while Air Canada places its code on 19 Emirates routes across the Indian subcontinent, Middle East and Southeast Asia. Beyond codeshare flights, the two carriers’ interline agreement opens access to more than 225 destinations worldwide.

Daily flights continue to play a central role in the partnership. Air Canada operates a daily Boeing 787 Dreamliner service between Toronto and Dubai, while Emirates flies its A380 daily to Toronto and operates seven weekly services to Montréal on the Boeing 777. The cooperation has been further strengthened by Air Canada’s shift to Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3, placing both airlines under one roof and streamlining connections for travellers.

Cargo operations are set for a major boost as well. The airlines are exploring a potential joint venture dedicated to cargo, aimed at improving global commodity movement. This comes at a time when trade between Canada and the UAE continues to rise sharply. Canadian exports reached CAD $3.3 billion in 2024—up 17 per cent from 2023—and shipments on Emirates aircraft alone have grown 37 per cent year-over-year.

With smoother loyalty benefits, expanded redemption options including Premium Economy, and plans for coordinated operations at Dubai World Central (expected after 2032), the renewed partnership is positioned to support both tourism and trade for years to come. The decision reflects the sustained demand for stronger air links between Canada, the Americas, the Middle East and the wider Asia region—connections that millions of passengers and businesses continue to rely on.
