Abu Dhabi is set to witness a spectacular display of maritime tradition as the Arilah 60ft Dhow Sailing Race takes place on 3 October 2025. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the event promises to be a highlight of the UAE’s sailing calendar, celebrating both sport and heritage.
Organised by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the race will feature over 90 traditional dhows navigating a challenging 25-nautical-mile course. Dhow owners, captains, and elite sailors from across the region will come together to test their skill, strategy, and seamanship in what is considered one of the most prestigious dhow competitions in the country.

With a total prize pool of AED4.2 million, the event not only encourages competitive spirit but also reinforces the UAE’s commitment to preserving its maritime culture. Beyond the thrill of competition, the race serves as a platform for community engagement and cultural education.
