President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received condolences on Friday following the passing of Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, who served as the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Ain Region. Sheikh Tahnoon passed away on Wednesday, prompting an outpouring of grief and remembrance from leaders around the world.
Among those who visited Qasr Al Mushrif in Abu Dhabi to offer their condolences were King Hamad of Bahrain and Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, representing Sheikh Tamim, the Emir of Qatar. Jassim Mohamed Albudaiwi, the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), also attended, alongside other dignitaries such as Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Luigi Di Maio, the European Union’s special representative for the Gulf region, and Abiy Ahmed, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia.

During the visit, Sheikh Mohamed was accompanied by Sheikh Tahnoon’s brothers, who joined him in accepting condolences. Also present was Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
Additionally, Sheikh Mohamed received condolence calls from various world leaders, including King Abdullah II of Jordan, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati. Messages of support were also conveyed by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, Sultan Haitham of Oman, Sheikh Tamim, the Emir of Qatar, Emir Sheikh Meshal of Kuwait, and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad of Bahrain.
Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed was not only a prominent figure in the UAE but also a close confidant and advisor to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE. He played a pivotal role in shaping the nation's development and progress.
In a tribute to his uncle, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed his heartfelt condolences and praised Sheikh Tahnoon's unwavering dedication to the country and its people. He highlighted Sheikh Tahnoon's integral role in continuing the vision of the UAE's Founding Father and prayed for his eternal rest.
The passing of Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan marked a significant loss for the UAE, as the nation mourned the departure of a respected leader and statesman who dedicated his life to serving his country and its citizens.
