India’s young batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi put on a sensational show in Dubai on Friday, blasting 171 runs from just 95 deliveries against hosts UAE in India’s opening fixture of the Under-19 Men’s Asia Cup 2025 at the ICC Academy Ground.
The 14-year-old left-handed batter raced to his century in only 56 balls, showcasing fearless strokeplay as he struck nine sixes and five boundaries on his way to three figures. He maintained his dominance throughout the innings before being dismissed for 171, bowled by spinner Uddish Suri while attempting a paddle sweep.
Suryavanshi’s blistering knock featured nine fours and 14 sixes and ended just six runs shy of the Youth ODI record of 177, set by Ambati Rayudu in 2002.
A native of Bihar, Suryavanshi already holds the record for the fastest Youth ODI hundred, having reached the milestone in 52 balls against England, and is also the youngest player to score a century in the format. This was his second hundred in Youth ODIs, adding to his impressive 143 against England earlier this year.
The remarkable innings came less than a month after he tormented the UAE bowling attack with a stunning 144 off 42 balls during the Asia Cup Rising Stars T20 tournament in Doha. Earlier this month, he further underlined his talent by becoming the youngest centurion in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy while representing Bihar.
As the Under-19 Asia Cup acts as an important build-up event ahead of the 2026 Under-19 ODI World Cup, Suryavanshi’s powerful performance has given India a commanding and confident start to their campaign.
