A tragic incident occurred at the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Sports Bowl in Tanjong Malim when a 53-year-old cleaner suffered a fatal heart attack. Authorities confirmed no foul play was involved.
Khalid Mohamad, the Muallim district police chief, reported that police received an emergency call via NG999 at 1:57 AM. Responders quickly arrived on-site, where they found the individual unconscious in a utility room, alongside officials from the Ministry of Health and the Fire and Rescue Department.
Despite efforts to revive him with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for around 15 minutes, he was declared dead at 2:23 AM. Preliminary investigations showed no injuries or signs of criminal activity; consequently, the body was sent to Slim River Hospital for a post-mortem.
The autopsy revealed that the cause of death was sudden cardiac arrest, and the case has since been categorized as a sudden death. Police have called on the public to refrain from speculation and to respect the deceased's family's privacy. Earlier, UPSI Sports Bowl manager Dzulkarnain Sapian reported that the victim, Mohd Radzi Ariffin, had mentioned a headache prior to the incident, leading his wife to search for him when he failed to return home.
