The United Arab Emirates is experiencing a pleasant start to the weekend as the weather has turned slightly cooler, with partly cloudy skies over many areas. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has shared its official weather forecast, and it brings some refreshing news for residents and travelers across the country.
Let’s take a look at the full weather report for today, the regions most likely to receive rain, expected temperatures, and what this all means for people living in cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, and Al Ain.

Partly Cloudy Skies Bring Hope for Rain
According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the skies over the UAE today are generally partly cloudy, which is a welcome change for many people who have been experiencing intense heat over the past few weeks. These cloudy conditions are not just limited to one area—they can be seen across the entire country, including inland, coastal, and even island regions in the west.
The NCM also highlighted the possibility of rain, especially in the eastern regions, coastal areas, and over some western islands. This is because of the development of rain-bearing clouds, also known as convective clouds.
What Are Convective Clouds?
Convective clouds are special types of clouds that form when the ground gets very hot. The heat causes warm air to rise, and as it goes higher, it cools down and forms clouds. These clouds often look like large piles of cotton and can lead to short but sometimes heavy rainfall. The NCM keeps a close watch on these clouds because they often appear in the afternoon, especially during summer, when ground temperatures are high.
So, if you live in or around Fujairah, Al Ain, or any surrounding area, there’s a good chance you might see some scattered showers this afternoon.
Slight Drop in Temperatures Brings Relief
One of the most noticeable changes today is the drop in temperatures, something residents have been waiting for after experiencing days of extreme heat.
Across most of the UAE, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 40°C and 47°C. While this may still sound hot, it is slightly cooler than recent days. In the mountainous areas, temperatures are even lower, offering a cool escape from the usual summer heat.
This change may be temporary, but it's a relief for many people planning to go outdoors or travel within the country during the weekend.
Humidity Levels Still High
Although the air temperature has dropped slightly, humidity levels remain high today. The NCM reported that humidity will hover between 70% and 85% in coastal and internal regions. High humidity can make the air feel much warmer than it actually is, and can cause discomfort, especially during physical activity or while commuting.
It is advised to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid going out during the hottest parts of the day unless necessary.
City-Wise Weather Conditions
Let’s take a closer look at the current and expected weather in major cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi:
Dubai Weather Report
Morning Temperature: Around 37°C
Expected High: 43°C
Real Feel Temperature: May go up to 48°C
Nighttime Low: Likely to be around 35°C
Sky Conditions: Hazy sunshine with a chance of cloud development
In Dubai, while the temperature may hit 43°C officially, the real feel (what your body actually feels) could touch 48°C. This is due to the combination of high humidity, low wind, and sunlight. Hazy conditions are expected, which may cause reduced visibility in some areas, especially near roads and open spaces.
Abu Dhabi Weather Report
Morning Temperature: Approximately 35°C
Expected High: 45°C
Real Feel Temperature: Up to 48°C
Nighttime Low: Around 34°C
Abu Dhabi is also facing a very hot day, even more than Dubai. The capital city will see temperatures rise sharply through the afternoon. The heat and humidity together will make the outdoors feel extremely warm. Residents are advised to take extra care, especially those working outside or engaging in physical activities.
Wind and Dust Alerts from NCM
The National Center of Meteorology has also issued a wind alert, stating that light to moderate winds will blow throughout the day. However, these winds could become relatively strong at times, especially near the sea.
Stronger winds can cause dust and sand to blow in open areas. This may lead to low visibility, especially during the afternoon hours. People who are driving should be cautious, especially on highways and roads surrounded by deserts or construction zones.
Rainy Conditions Possible in These Areas
If you are living in or planning to visit the following regions, keep an umbrella or raincoat handy:
Fujairah
Al Ain
Eastern areas
Coastal zones
Western islands
Scattered rain may occur, especially during the late afternoon hours, as the heat builds and the clouds grow thicker. The rain will not last long but may bring temporary cooling and dampness.
Safety Tips for Rainy and Dusty Weather
The weather today brings a mix of heat, humidity, clouds, and possible rainfall. Here are a few important tips for staying safe:
Stay Hydrated: Drink water often, even if you’re not feeling thirsty.
Avoid Going Out in the Afternoon: Especially between 12 PM and 4 PM, when the sun is at its peak.
Drive Carefully: Rain and dust can make roads slippery or reduce visibility.
Protect Your Skin and Eyes: Wear sunscreen and sunglasses if you're stepping out.
Keep Electronic Devices Safe: If you're outside during rain, protect phones and gadgets from getting wet.
What to Expect Tomorrow?
The NCM has not yet shared the full forecast for tomorrow, but if today’s conditions continue, we can expect similar weather patterns over the next 24 to 48 hours. Cloudy skies, chances of rain, and strong afternoon heat could still affect various parts of the UAE.
Today’s weather in the UAE brings a blend of relief and caution. While the drop in temperature and cloudy skies offer a break from the recent extreme heat, the high humidity and strong real feel temperatures still demand care and preparation.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed by checking updates from the National Center of Meteorology and using trusted weather apps like AccuWeather for real-time information.
Whether you’re heading to work, school, or just out for the weekend, take proper steps to stay safe and enjoy this brief shift in weather.
