Sharjah — The Emirate of Sharjah has launched its 54th Eid Al Etihad (Union Day) celebrations with a vibrant start at the newly introduced Al Layyah Canal venue. The festivities, which began on November 26 and continue until December 2, are drawing residents and visitors to a lively cultural setting from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily.

For the first time, Al Layyah Canal has been transformed into a festive destination, offering a blend of heritage, entertainment, and family-oriented activities. The atmosphere along the canal reflects a strong patriotic spirit, as traditional Emirati performances take center stage. Folk groups including Al Razfa and Al Ayalah delivered rhythmic shows that captured the essence of local heritage. The opening ceremony also featured heartfelt words from senior locals who experienced the UAE’s formative years, sharing memories from the union era.

Throughout the week, visitors will find a variety of interactive shows designed to involve the audience directly. The venue also highlights local youth projects and family-run businesses showcasing innovative products rooted in Emirati identity. A national performance titled “Sultan of Sharjah” by the Al-Shaer Band added a theatrical element to the evening, accompanied by a light show that illuminated the canal.

To ensure families enjoy a complete experience, dedicated children’s corners have been set up with play areas and creative workshops. These sessions encourage artistic skills through drawing and handicraft activities, blending fun with learning. The spacious layout of the canal allows for smooth movement of visitors and provides open areas for artistic, cultural, and folk displays, giving the celebrations a warm and inclusive feel.

Beyond entertainment, the festivities aim to strengthen national pride and deepen the sense of belonging among residents and visitors. By combining tradition with modern recreational experiences, Al Layyah Canal has become a hub for community connection and cultural appreciation.

The week-long celebrations contribute to Sharjah’s growing appeal as a cultural and tourist destination. With daily performances, engaging activities, and a strong sense of unity in the air, Al Layyah Canal is emerging as one of the standout destinations for the 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations, leaving a memorable impression on everyone who attends.
