Under the guidance of Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum, the UAE Food Bank held a ceremony to thank those who have helped it. The ceremony honored government departments, charities, businesses, and volunteers who supported the Food Bank’s work this year.

In 2024, the UAE Food Bank distributed over 24.5 million meals in the first nine months, which is 93% more than last year. This means they gave out more than 90,000 meals a day. The Food Bank went beyond its yearly goal and helped many people in need.

The Food Bank also gave out 166.7 tonnes of food, which is the same as 416,750 meals. It did this with the help of 925 partners and over 5,000 volunteers. These efforts helped millions of people in the UAE and other parts of the world.

The UAE Food Bank worked hard to save food and protect the environment. It stopped 9 million meals from being thrown away, which saved 3,700 tonnes of food. This effort also helped reduce the harmful gases that come from food waste. The Food Bank even worked with companies to recycle food that couldn’t be used, turning it into compost to help local farms.

The Food Bank also worked with a project called Nimah to reduce food waste in hotels. Between 2022 and 2024, they helped cut food waste in hotels by 47%. During Ramadan, they also trained 400 hotel workers and helped 63 hotels around the world. They provided 300 food waste bins in hotel kitchens, which stopped 401,266 kg of food from going to landfills. They also recycled 232,946 kg of food and created 46,589 kg of compost.

Dawoud Al Hajri, a leader at the UAE Food Bank, thanked all the people and organizations who helped. He said their support shows the UAE’s values of charity, kindness, and helping others. These efforts help the UAE reach its goal of building a better, more sustainable world.

Throughout the year, the UAE Food Bank held 150 programs to teach people how to reduce food waste and store food properly. More than 3,400 people joined these programs. The Food Bank also signed 18 new partnerships to expand its work.

During Ramadan, the Food Bank gave out 7.3 million meals as part of the “5 Million Meals Initiative.” They ran several programs like “Food Baskets,” “Your Breakfast with Us,” “1,000 Cookers,” and a special iftar for 5,500 workers at Zabeel Park in Dubai. When heavy rain and floods hit the country, the Food Bank quickly provided 114,910 meals to help people affected by the storm.

The UAE Food Bank follows values of kindness, charity, and responsibility. It continues to help people in need and works toward making the world a better place.
