Abu Dhabi has announced that it will not take part in the proposed international stability force in Gaza, citing a lack of a clear operational framework, a senior Emirati official said on Monday.
Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE president, emphasized that under the current circumstances, the UAE remains focused on supporting political solutions and humanitarian aid rather than military participation. “The region remains fragile, yet there is reason for cautious optimism,” he stated during the Abu Dhabi Strategic Debate.
Gargash highlighted that while the UAE continues to back peace initiatives, the country has not identified a sufficiently structured mandate for an international force in Gaza, making direct involvement impossible at this time. The UAE, a leading provider of aid in the region, remains committed to delivering humanitarian assistance to affected populations and supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at conflict resolution.
The remarks underline the UAE’s approach of balancing regional engagement with caution, prioritizing humanitarian and political contributions over military involvement amid ongoing instability in Gaza.
The proposed stability force, discussed internationally, aims to curb escalating violence and maintain order in the Gaza Strip. However, multiple countries, including the UAE, have expressed concerns over unclear operational guidelines and mandate scope.
As the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, international observers continue to call for coordinated global efforts, emphasizing diplomatic dialogue and support for civilians affected by the conflict.
