The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has once again made its people proud by becoming the world’s safest country. As per the latest “Safety Index by Country 2025 Mid-Year” report released by Numbeo, UAE has topped the global list by scoring 85.2 points. This is an improvement from last year when its score was 84.5.

What is Numbeo’s Safety Index?

Numbeo is a website that collects and shows real-time data on the cost of living, safety, health care, pollution, and other important factors in countries across the world. Its Safety Index shows how safe people feel in their country based on crime levels and safety while walking alone during day and night.

The higher the score, the safer the country is. UAE has left behind 167 other countries to reach the number one position this year.

How Did UAE Achieve This Rank?

UAE’s government works hard to keep its cities safe. They have:

  • Strict laws for crime prevention

  • Advanced CCTV camera systems across cities

  • Quick emergency response teams

  • Friendly and disciplined police force

  • Strong punishments for criminal activities

People living in the UAE feel safe walking alone at any time of the day or night. Families, children, women, and tourists feel protected wherever they go. The streets are clean, organised, and monitored regularly.

Why Do Indians Love Visiting UAE?

UAE is one of the most popular travel destinations for Indians. According to Statista, in 2022, UAE had the highest number of Indian tourists. There are many reasons for this:

  • It is close to India with short flight durations.

  • The visa process is simple and fast.

  • Indians get e-visas and even visas on arrival in some cases.

  • There are many tourist attractions like Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Desert Safaris, Abu Dhabi’s Grand Mosque, and beautiful beaches.

  • The country offers great job opportunities, luxury shopping, and a high standard of living.

How to Apply for a UAE Tourist Visa?

The visa application process for UAE is very easy. It is completely online and can be done from your home. Here are the steps:

  1. Visit official visa portals like GDRFA, ICP App, or Dubai Now app.

  2. Upload your passport copy and photograph.

  3. Fill in all required details in the online form.

  4. Pay the visa fees using online payment options.

Usually, the visa is granted within 4-5 working days, but it is always safe to apply at least a week before your flight to avoid any delays.

What About Other GCC Countries?

Just like UAE, other GCC countries such as Qatar and Oman are also very safe and rank high on the list. Saudi Arabia secured the 12th spot, and Bahrain is at the 15th spot. All these countries have strict rules, advanced security systems, and low crime rates, making them safe for residents as well as tourists.

Which Countries Are the Least Safe?

While many countries have become safer over the years, there are some where crime rates remain high, making them unsafe for travellers and residents. According to the Numbeo 2025 data, the least safe country in the world is Haiti with a safety score of 19.0.

Ranking number one in the Numbeo Safety Index 2025 proves that the UAE is committed to ensuring safety, peace, and harmony for all.
