Trump rally shooting: Witness recounts chaos as cops miss rooftop sniper

During a rally attended by Donald Trump on Saturday, chaos erupted as Thomas Crooks, 20, opened fire from a rooftop near the event. The assailant fired at least eight shots towards the stage, resulting in the death of a spectator and injuring Trump along with two others.

Michael and Amber Difrischia, present at the rally, recounted the harrowing moments when they and others in the crowd spotted Crooks on the building. Initially unnoticed by law enforcement due to their proximity, the situation quickly escalated as attendees realized the imminent danger.

"I didn't think much of it at first," Michael recalled, "but then someone behind me noticed him with a gun."

Amber attempted to alert nearby police to Crooks' location but found them unable to see him clearly due to their position near the building. The confusion and urgency of the situation intensified as the gunman continued to pose a threat.

Tragically, a former fire chief lost his life in the incident, while two others sustained critical injuries. Trump himself suffered a minor injury to his ear but reassured the public of his well-being shortly after being escorted offstage.
