Tottenham Hotspur won 1-0 against Liverpool in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final. The only goal was scored by 18-year-old Lucas Bergvall in the 86th minute. He hit a great shot past Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson. This surprising victory gave Tottenham a big win over the defending champions.

Before Bergvall’s goal, Liverpool had a goal from Dominic Solanke ruled out for offside. Liverpool, who had won the League Cup 10 times, did not play well and lost their unbeaten run of 24 matches in all competitions.

Liverpool felt they were treated unfairly because Bergvall had already been given a yellow card and should have been sent off for a foul on Kostas Tsimikas. But the referee let him stay on the field, and soon after, Bergvall scored.

Tottenham’s victory made them feel confident for the second leg of the semi-final, which will be played at Anfield, Liverpool’s home. In the other semi-final, Newcastle United won 2-0 away against Arsenal.

Tottenham was missing several players because of injuries. Before the match, they had only won three of their last 14 games. During the match, midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was injured and had to leave the field on a stretcher. But even with the injuries, Tottenham played well.

Liverpool had beaten Tottenham 6-3 earlier this season in the league. But in this game, they did not play as well. Mohamed Salah, a star player for Liverpool, did not play his best. Kinsky, Tottenham’s new goalkeeper, made some important saves during the match.

In the second half, Liverpool almost took the lead when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s shot was cleared off the line by Radu Dragusin, a Tottenham defender.
Tottenham also had a chance to score when Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Alisson, made a mistake. He took too long with the ball, and Bergvall stole it. He passed the ball to Pedro Porro, but his shot was blocked by Virgil van Dijk, and the second shot went wide.

At the end of the game, Tottenham got the goal they needed. Bergvall scored after a great pass from Dominic Solanke. The Tottenham fans cheered loudly, and the team celebrated their big win.

This victory made the manager, Ange Postecoglou, and the fans happy. Tottenham is now one step closer to winning their first League Cup since 2008.
