Prabhas’ latest film, The Raja Saab, which debuted in cinemas on January 9, has made a significant mark at the box office. It grossed a remarkable Rs 130.25 crore in its first week, showcasing a robust launch for this horror-comedy. Although the takings experienced a minor dip in the second week, the movie still garnered Rs 3.50 crore on the eighth day, bringing its total earnings to Rs 133.75 crore.
On its second Friday, The Raja Saab recorded an average occupancy of about 35% across Telugu-speaking areas. Evening screenings drew the largest crowds with a 43.54% occupancy, followed by afternoon shows at 37.57%, while night screenings remained steady at 36.85%. Morning screenings had the least attendance, recording only 21.57%.
The film follows Raja Saab, portrayed by Prabhas, an ordinary villager living with his grandmother. Suffering from Alzheimer’s, she holds onto the belief that her husband, Kanakaraja, will return after completing an important task. The plot takes a heartfelt turn when Raja Saab meets a mysterious figure who resembles his grandfather, leading to an emotional journey of reconnection and supernatural elements.
In addition to Prabhas, the film features a stellar ensemble including Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, Zarina Wahab, Samuthirakani, Boman Irani, Murali Sharma, VTV Ganesh, and Prabhas Sreenu. Produced by IVY Entertainment and People Media Factory, this film is backed by a team renowned for delivering successful projects.
Recently, director Maruthi Dasari announced that a sequel to The Raja Saab is already in the works. He stated that the sequel will adhere to the horror genre while introducing a brand new storyline and setting, distinct from the original film. His aim is to enhance the horror experience with an innovative script that explores untapped aspects of the genre.
With its impressive box office performance and the promise of a sequel, The Raja Saab keeps the audience engaged and eager for future developments.
