Thailand Approves $3.1B Data Center Projects Boosting Growth

Thailand is stepping up its digital infrastructure ambitions, approving four major data center projects worth $3.1 billion on Monday. The move comes as part of a broader push to attract global and local tech investments.

Among the new projects, Dubai-based DAMAC Digital will invest in an 84-megawatt (MW) data center valued at 26.7 billion baht. A local investor will develop a hyperscale data center with a massive 200 MW IT load, with an estimated investment of 54.9 billion baht. These developments are expected to significantly expand the country’s digital capacity and create high-value jobs.

In addition to new approvals, Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI) has introduced measures to accelerate stalled projects worth $9.2 billion. Investors will now benefit from faster access to industrial land, reliable power supply, and streamlined visa and work permit approvals. The initiative is designed to cut bureaucratic delays and boost investor confidence.

With these moves, Thailand aims to strengthen its position as a regional hub for data storage, cloud computing, and digital services. Analysts note that enhanced infrastructure and faster project approvals could encourage more multinational tech companies to establish operations in the country.
