Rebel forces in Syria have reached the gates of Hama, a big city in the center of the country. This is after quickly taking control of many areas in northern Syria, ending four years of peace. The fighting between the rebels and the Syrian army has forced many people to leave their homes, causing a large number of people to move to safer places.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the rebels are now at the entrance to Hama city and have started shelling some parts of it. This caused many people to flee not only from Hama but also from villages in the north and west of the city.
In response, the Syrian army has sent more soldiers to protect the city and stop any rebel attack. say the army is attacking rebel groups in northern Hama and Idlib provinces with help from Russian airstrikes.
Russia has been helping Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the civil war since 2015. But because of the war in Ukraine, Russia has had to use many of its military resources for that war, which has affected its support for Syria.
Hama was one of the cities that strongly opposed Assad's government when the war started. If the rebels take control of the city, it could weaken the government's support. According to Rami Abdel Rahman, who runs the Observatory, this could be a big problem for Assad's government.
The United Nations says that about 50,000 people have been forced to leave their homes because of the fighting that began last Wednesday. So far, at least 602 people have been killed, including 104 civilians. The situation keeps getting worse, and people around the world are worried about what will happen next in the war.
